PHILOSOPHY

Diving deeper and going beyond just documenting.

delving deeper,
the philosophy.

Delving beneath the surface,
You no longer come to us seeking for just someone to document your wedding. You come to us seeking for something deeper, someone who’s interested in the numerous beginnings of your relationship; the new chapters, the new stages and the new ventures together as a pair. You come to us knowing that we’ll be a large part of your wedding process; the hustle, the excitement, the disagreements and the eagerness.

As much as wedding is a joyous event and a celebration of a union between two parties, it is an occasion layered with relief, gratitude, some worries for what’s to come in the future and strong commitment. With that in mind, we often look for smaller, unnoticed moments instead of just the usual march-ins and kisses. Instead of focusing on an event, we often look for the reason behind a particular event that is planned to happen. This greatly contributed to the vibe of our works – it’s raw, natural and seemingly different from the usual wedding photos and films. Even though the makeup may not be perfect at times, even though the natural lighting situation may not be ideal, the sensitivity that we have allow us to always find frames of moments that people don’t observe which in turn, hold more value than the picture-perfect moments.

the style.

While these moments happen in split seconds away from the spotlight, we try our very best to use light and shadows to accentuate a happening and the layers of emotional connections that happened behind a photo or footage. This help the couple themselves and audiences to fully feel a wedding, and the final works move beyond just wedding photography and videography, to something more personable and unique.

It is important that these elements can be felt and seen by audiences. Ultimately, like how paintings allow numerous inferences, we hope that our photos and films go beyond just documentation but act as an opened door to a deeper understanding – it can be viewed over and over again with new thoughts and observations to be made.

Inspired by late Renaissance paintings and the technique of Chiaroscuro, we tend to mimic low-key, dramatic lighting, stronger contrast and warmer tones to accentuate and convey relationships and feelings across. It is also to differentiate different characters, happenings, feelings and even juxtapositions in different photos. We also try our best to ensure that our edits are still true to skin color so that nothing gets washed out and details of the photos are preserved. Little details like strands of hair, silhouettes and shadows on facial features makes a photo more realistic and relatable.
